Michael Caine eredita dal padre, generale delle SS, una fortuna sottratta illegalmente al Führer. L'eredità è però accompagnata dalla clausola di destinarla, in parte, alle numerose vittime del nazismo. Ma il malloppo fa gola anche a un gruppo di nostalgici e ad alcune spie. Caine si trova così coinvolto in un intrigo terribile e sanguinoso. Film di spionaggio tradizionale da un romanzo di Robert Ludlum.
