Un armatore che ha una nave in disarmo cerca di organizzare una truffa; per questo assolda una banda di piccoli delinquenti, che a loro volta si rivolgono a Charleston, re dell'imbroglio. L'armatore però da truffatore diventa truffato: gli si fa infatti credere che la nave è affondata e vale quindi un bel po' di soldi grazie all'assicurazione. L'armatore la ricompra per accaparrarsi il premio, ma s'accorge dell'imbroglio quando ormai è troppo tardi e c'è anche Scotland Yard che indaga...
