Mentre l'Europa è alle prese con lo scoppio della Seconda guerra mondiale, il piccolo Martin inizia ad amare il nuovo fratello Dovidl, un talentuoso violinista che ha nove anni come lei ed è un rifugiato ebreo polacco a Londra.
