La città di Gatlin era stata sconvolta nel 1983 da un'ondata di misteriosi omicidi, le cui vittime erano sempre persone adulte. Dopo una lunga indagine si era scoperto che gli assassini erano un gruppo di ragazzini controllati da una setta che praticava macabri rituali. Adesso i bambini assassini sono tornati e hanno ripreso a uccidere: toccherà a un giornalista, arrivato in città perchè spera di scrivere un articolo memorabile, affrontare la minaccia.
