Nella baia su cui si affaccia un grande albergo, in un isola dei Caraibi, vengono trovati dei cadaveri orrendamente mutilati. Un'istruttrice di immersioni subacquee inizia a indagare e scopre che i corpi sono stati sfigurati da una nuova specie di famelici pesci con le ali, risultato di un esperimento segreto. Si tratta, infatti, di piraña che vivono nel relitto di una nave e che, al calar della sera, escono per uccidere.
