Londra, 1888: nelle strade del quartiere di Whitechapel, Jack lo Squartatore si aggira di notte uccidendo e sventrando le prostitute. Sulle sue tracce, oltre all'intera polizia londinese, c'è l'ispettore Frederick George Abberline l'unico che capisce subito che i delitti sono preceduti da una meticolosa e scrupolosa messa in scena.
